Delaware River Ferries at the time of the American Revolution

Delaware River Ferries at the time of the American Revolution  In-Person

Ferry boats played a crucial role in Washington’s December 1776 Crossing, which occurred just south of Lambertville. Local expert Stan Saperstein will share a presentation on the 1776 Delaware River ferry boat operations, including Coryell’s Ferry (Lambertville), while dressed in ferryman’s garb of the era. He’ll discuss the local ferries’ economic impact, how they affected private businesses and their military use. He’ll also provide a look at the technical operations and different styles of ferry boats.

Stanley D. Saperstein is a master micro-historian who specializes in important but little-known histories.
