JESS CONVERSE: WORKS ON PAPER

The Lambertville Library is pleased to present Works on Paper, an exhibition by New Jersey artist Jess Converse, on view September 8 through October 16 at the Michael Lewis Art Book Collection & Gallery.

Drawing from a background in graphic design and a fascination with typography, color, and packaging, Converse transforms discarded cardboard shipping materials into text-based wall reliefs. Words are projected, painted, fragmented, and woven across folded surfaces, shifting and distorting as viewers move around the work.

Bold color relationships and the physical movement of typography across the surfaces further transform the familiar language of packaging into something unexpected, encouraging viewers to experience words not simply as messages, but as forms shaped by color, movement, material, and perception.
